Meet Our Pattern Maker
Hi there,
My name is Silvia and I am … well, a lot of things, such as: pattern maker, seamstress, quilter, knitter, upholsterer, embroiderer (maybe I should stop here, but I could probably list some more).
Are you like this too? Interested in learning many things? If so, I would love to teach you some of my areas of expertise.
I have a degree in Fashion Design and Pattern making. I interned at some fashion houses in NYC such as Isaac Mizhari, Catherine Malandrino, and Narciso Rodriguez and also assisted a freelance knitwear designer.
Prior to that, I was a designer and pattern maker at a window treatment and upholstery workroom, which led me to working as a Designer at Calico Corners.
However, before Calico, I was a sewing and knitting teacher at a beautiful local shop in Leesburg, VA for 7 years. During some of that time I was a BERNINA ambassador and BERNINA instructor and blog contributor. You can find a lot of my tutorials on their blog (weallsew). I also had a good time making quilts, writing quilt patterns for magazines and entering quilts on shows while being part os a wonderful quilt bee called BeeSewcial.
All this to say that I love sewing and I am here to help you overcome the scary parts of the craft and enjoy the process of making your quilts, bags, clothes and even home dec pieces.
I hope to hear your story too!

It is not about what clothes you make, but why you make them.
